Design Thinking
What is it? Design Thinking is a problem-solving methodology that places a strong emphasis on empathy and understanding the needs of the end-users. It is a human-centered approach to innovation and design that involves iterative processes to come up with creative and user-centric solutions. The key stages of Design Thinking typically include empathizing with users, defining the problem, ideating possible solutions, prototyping, and testing the solutions with real users to gather feedback for refinement.
Why do we like it? Design Thinking is favored for its ability to foster innovation by placing the user at the heart of the design process. By empathizing with users and involving them in the testing phase, it increases the likelihood of creating products and services that truly meet their needs. The iterative nature of Design Thinking allows teams to explore a wide range of ideas and concepts before settling on the best solution. Additionally, it encourages a collaborative approach, enabling multidisciplinary teams to work together, bringing diverse perspectives and expertise to the table. We love using the Double Diamond design thinking process that was developed by the British Design Council - check out our blog post 'Three Reasons Why We Use Design Thinking as a Tool for Innovation' fpr more insights into how we use this methodology.
